If you want to straighten your teeth with Invisalign, you may be wondering if you’re a suitable candidate for the treatment. If you’re looking for Invisalign in Dublin, Portobello Dental Clinic can help to assess your suitability. Here’s how…
Invisalign is a series of clear aligners which are designed to be worn on your teeth for around 10-14 days at a time before moving onto the next set. They work by gently aligning the teeth into the desired position using low forces. Results can be seen in as little as 9-18 months depending on the complexity of your case.
After an initial consultation with your dentist, you will be assessed to determine your suitability for the procedure. This means checking your teeth to see how complex your case is. Invisalign is ideal for fixing crooked, crowded or widely spaced teeth but it can also be used to correct overbites, underbites and crossbites too. If you are deemed a suitable candidate for this procedure, your dentist will then take photographs of your teeth and impressions to make up models of your teeth. These models are sent to the relevant laboratory in the USA where your Invisalign aligners will be custom manufactured for your mouth.
Once the aligners have been custom made for your teeth, we will schedule another appointment with you when you’ll have the attachments added to your teeth and then the aligners will be fitted. At first the Invisalign aligners will feel really tight and you may experience some discomfort, but this should disappear after the first day or two. You will be given a series of aligners so you can quickly move onto the next set without having to keep going back to the dentist.
