Patient A did not like her smile and was self-conscious about the gaps between her front teeth. We discussed a number of treatment options including tooth whitening, cosmetic bonding, crowns and orthodontics

We opted for a combination of tooth whitening and porcelain veneers for the following reasons:

  • Best cosmetic result
  • Robust long-term solution (~10yrs)
  • Minimal enamel removal
Before porcelain veneers and tooth whitening

After tooth whitening and porcelain veneers

Ian came to us unsatisfied with his smile and knowing he had dental work outstanding.

We consulted with him and formulated a plan that suited him. Ian had some restorative work that needed to be completed first to ensure his teeth and gums were healthy and following this Ian had short term orthodontics and 3 anterior crowns with one veneer.

The whole process took 7 months to complete and Ian attended for his final review appointment this week.

The results speak for themselves!

What I like about this case is the effect the smile has on Ian’s face and confidence as a whole! Well worth the time and effort, well done Ian!

R did not like the appearance of his front teeth; he felt that they looked too yellow, and he didn’t like the space between the two front teeth.

We discussed a number of ways to improve his smile, including tooth whitening and cosmetic bonding, but chose porcelain veneers for maximum cosmetic effect.

Treatment time: 3 weeks

Treatment cost: Euro currency symbol4,850

The above patient presented to my surgery complaining of dark, stained teeth, and unsightly composite restorations on his anterior teeth.  The patient had fallen off of his bike as a child, and had his teeth repaired several times since.  Porcelain crowns were the ideal solution to restore his heavily filled anterior teeth, as these will help stabilise, and strengthen his front teeth, as well as providing an excellent aesthetic result.

The teeth were cleaned; and once a good level of oral hygiene was achieved by the patient, we were able to crown the four centre front teeth.  No bleaching took place, as the patient was happy enough with the colour of his front teeth.  The transformation was increadable.

Duration of treatment: Gum treatment carried out in August 2010; Crowns done over two visits 6 months later.

Cost : 4 Super aesthetic Porcelain Crowns  €2,200

Patient: Noel, aged late 20’s /early 30’s has been a patient of Dr Helen Walsh for the last 10 years, and had at many times considered some cosmetic work on his front teeth, which had been fractured as a child, and repaired regularly in the intervening years. He was mostly concerned about the actual treatment involved, though cost, as with everyone was an issue also.

Treatment:He finally decided to go ahead and have cosmetic work started on his teeth in November 2010. We started by whitening all his teeth, including the damaged front teeth, and then when we were happy with the colour he achieved, we prepared 3 of his front teeth for porcelain crowns, and 1 for a porcelain veneer. These were fitted in February 2011.
Noel is so happy with the treatment and care provided, and wishes he did this a long time ago–see his video testimonial on our site re this.

Duration of treatment: Nov 2010 to Feb 2011

Cost : €349 whitening, followed by 3 super aesthetic Porcelain Crowns and 1 Porcelain Veneer €2,893

Patient: Joanne aged late 30’s/early 40’s has been a patient of Dr. Helen Walsh’s for many years, and they had tried more conservative approaches to improving her smile over many years–all of which worked well but for shorter periods of time than was ideal. She was getting increasingly embarrassed by her smile, and this was affecting her quality of life especially her confidence socially.

Treatment: Porcelain Veneers on 8 teeth.

Cost €600 per veneer–this price was only agreed as this option had been visited initially many years ago, and the original price was honoured to reward her loyalty to Portobello Dental Clinic.
Whitening of her lower/bottom teeth free as whitening treatment just topped up–they were all whitened originally approx. 7 years ago.

Treatment : This patient had short and discoloured lateral incisors (the teeth either side of the two front teeth). We discussed all the treatment options and decided that porcelain veneers would provide the best cosmetic result. The teeth were all whitened and then two veneers were placed on the two lateral incisors. Matching the shade of the veneers exactly to that of the surrounding teeth can be one of the biggest challenges in dentistry, but if done correctly, the results can be fantastic.
