Repair chips, colouring and cracks in your teeth with natural looking porcelain veneers
Porcelain veneers are extremely thin layers of dental material that are bonded to the front of your teeth (usually the visible front teeth). They are used to add a more cosmetically pleasing colour to your visible teeth, as well as being harder to stain while doing minimal damage to the teeth.
They’re also a perfect option if you have a damaged, chipped, or cracked tooth that requires basic repair as they can be shaped and cut to size, covering up any damage.
Although a tooth needs to be prepared, a veneer addition removes very little of the enamel of a tooth thanks to the width of the veneers being extremely thin.
Are veneer treatments painful?
No. Although we always prefer to anaesthetise the area we’ll be working on, the veneer treatment is rarely uncomfortable as we don’t remove a huge amount of enamel from the tooth before we start work. The veneer is essentially sitting in as a replacement for the top surface of the tooth, and so can be extremely thin.
Is it easy to maintain veneers?
Yes. Veneers work in much the same way as regular teeth when it comes to maintenance. Make sure to brush and floss as you would normally, using non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste. Veneers can also be stained like regular teeth too, so it’s best to cut down on foods and drinks that yellow your teeth.

I am so glad I found the Portobello Dental Clinic and have no hesitation in recommending them to my family and friends. Everyone at the Portobello clinic is professional and friendly and the follow up phone call after treatment, to inquire how I was feeling was much appreciated.
I recently got implants at Portobello. I am very satisfied with the results and I have confidence that if any problems do arise, that they will be dealt with. I have been going to Portobello for about nine years.
